# Protect Private Key

Here are some best practices for protecting your private keys:

1\. Keep your private keys offline: One of the best ways to protect your private keys is to keep them offline, either on a hardware wallet or on a piece of paper. This reduces the risk of your keys being compromised by hackers or malware.

2\. Use strong passwords: If you are storing your private keys on a computer or mobile device, be sure to use strong, unique passwords for your wallet and any other accounts that have access to your keys.

3\. Avoid sharing your keys: Do not share your private keys with anyone, even if they claim to be a legitimate representative of a cryptocurrency company.

By following these best practices, you can help protect your private keys and keep your cryptocurrency assets safe.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.metaproprotocol.com/metapro-one/settings/private-key/protect-private-key.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
